Kimarie Manhart-Freeman: Self-Taught Poetess and Writer
Kimarie Manhart-Freeman is a poetess who delights in the Romance genre. Her work is unconventional, with a flippant disregard for the traditional constraints of written poetry. Life experiences wind their way into her works without shame or remorse. She makes the reader feel as if they are invited to her sitting room, sharing tea and chatting in strictest confidence. She retells her private life to readers in poetic form to share, uplift, commiserate and befriend, nothing more. Kimarie believes that it is the feeling, not the form of a piece that captivates. Her work is rich in imagery. It is decadent in it's frequent use of antiquated phraseology intermingled with witty modern day understanding. She believes in doing everything with passion, and it is evident in her many works. She is highly opinionated and non-apologetic about expressing her views. She is a follower of Jesus Yeshua ; and is active in Messianic ministry. She lives in Easton PA, with her husband and family. She has a small catering business that offers comfort and exotic foods; and delightful baked goods. She can be contacted at cardamomtea66@yahoo.com.

We inherited a very unusual little white chihuahua and he brought us a sick kind of joy.

*PenB* First Impressions:

On first read, this was a fun story about a very different little dog who thrived, like a naughty child, on negative attention. Pee-Pee was only really happy when he was being told off - it was all he knew, and he seemed to mistake being yelled at for a sign of affection. It was only on reflection that the story became a little sad, because the little dog doesn’t seem to have known the gentle, caring love that pets can usually expect. That’s not to say that he was being mistreated or that he was unhappy; he just didn’t know any different. And yet I had to smile at the dog’s antics, especially when he refused help and insisted on keeping the house safe. The end justified the means, and the only way to get the dog to comply and make him happy was to be mean to him, and that’s exactly what the family did. They provided him with a home and a few happy months, which was all that mattered.

*PenG* Suggestions:

There were numerous grammatical and spelling errors in this story that made it quite difficult to read. I would suggest giving this story a good edit. In particular, you might want to watch out for spacing after punctuation, for example here:

this little,old wiry chihuahua

and here:

his coat.All the cousins

There should be a space after the comma and the period. This error occurred a few times.

There were also a number of typos, for example:

greatgrandmother - great-grandmother

engish - English

beign - I think that was meant to say “being”, but I wasn’t sure.

existance - existence

There were also some other errors, for example here:

"No touch Pee-Pee!, He ez - you don’t need the comma.

one hundred,She never - “she” should not be capitalised.

*PenP* Final Thoughts:

That looks like a long list, but fortunately those errors are all easy to fix. I think the story is worth it - it read like one of those true family gems that you will probably want to share with the younger generation, so it deserves a bit of attention. There were so many little details, like your great-grandmother’s personality or the way the family rallied to save the dog, that were a pleasure to read, and I enjoyed the tale.
