Why is sadness important? Well, I've never seen the movie, but I have read the Wikipedia summary for the movie Inside Out. In it, among other things, the emotion Joy is trying to figure out the reason for the emotion Sadness's purpose. Well, not to spoil too much, but, basically, Joy finds out that the reason for Sadness's existence is to help their human appreciate things better. That being said, not going to judge a movie I haven't watched, but I like that idea. I know that I tend to appreciate certain things after a good cry.
