I really like the way you played with the character interactions between Dan and Eric once he had been acquitted. My only small issue with the story is that Eric getting off on an unspecified technicality felt a little bit like an easy out; I would have loved to have seen some thought and development put into the scenario to determine how he was acquitted. Details like that would be great to round out the narrative and increase it's sense of realism.
