I really enjoyed the experience of reading this story. It was like an Indiana Jones adventure, with well-described action and great pacing. I thought the storytelling device of establishing the setting, then going back into the backstory, then coming back to the present was handled particularly well.
I did think the ending was just a bit too contrived. Everything wrapped up really conveniently and there was never a moment where the characters really had to wrestle with their choices because Pete and his father both instantly forgave one another without any tension or conflict. I'd love to see more of that dynamic play out a little in their interactions... after all, Pete did steal something his father had been obsessed with for years!
