Empty Eye

My boss has gotten all the breaks
to help him to succeed.
If I could have a job like his,
that's all that I would need.

My sister's garden sure looks swell,
you'll never see a weed.
If I had such a garden fair,
that's all that I would need.

My neighbor just got home from work.
His new car's parked out front.
If I could have a car like that...
That's all I really want.

Beware the curse of the empty eye
and try to rise above it.
For envy's cup cannot be filled
No matter what you covet.
