The Western Sea
The Western Sea
One night eidolons captured me
in rocks along the western sea.
Determination waxing thin
I bordered on insanity.
A coastal fog came creeping in,
‘twas then I heard the sound begin.
A wailing woman sent her cries
from water’s edge—this godless din.
As best I could I strained my eyes
at swelling seas upon the rise.
Amid the waves a small craft swayed;
six men rowed hard against demise.
I hastened then to offer aid,
both to the men and weeping maid.
As I approached they disappeared.
In sweat I stood alone—afraid.
The angry sea and fog had cleared
and naught remained of what appeared.
How dare I find me so engrossed
!
I’ve finally lost my mind
, I feared
I later learned that many boast
of having seen this self-same ghost.
In rocks along the western sea
six men surrendered to the coast.
