As I'm not seeking publication, I offer my work online for free reading. I'm not seeking stylistic critique so much as feedback from people who just like reading what I write. I love hearing what people think of my characters, plots, themes, etc., so if you have any comments or advice on those, feel free to share. I'm not hugely popular and often go many months without hearing from readers so I enjoy all the comments I get!

My interests are Ojibwa mythology, Mackinac Island, Egyptian mythology, Jungian symbolism and dream interpretation, ritual crime, fantasy writing, and various other things you can find in my personal bio, available just to the right. February 15 1974: Christine DelBora is born.

September 1974: Lucifer V relocates the three D's to safe places outside the cult, in order to retrieve them after his and Lilith's planned escape from Scorpio. The gold and silver D's reach Father Damien (not then a priest); the diamond D is hidden in an old copper tunnel. (Events outlined in D Is For Damien.)

1975: Lucifer V's and Lilith's escape attempt fails; Father Damien arrives to escort the children to safety and is shot in the process. He gives his nephew Damien (Lucifer's son) the silver D. The children escape, and Lucifer and Lilith are taken back by the cult; Lucifer starts to undergo intense indoctrination to keep him loyal to Scorpio. The children are eventually split up so only Damien and Lilu stay together. (Events partly outlined in Lucifer.)

1976: At the age of five, Kristeva's abuse at the hands of his father and cult friends begins. It carries on for six years, until he is eleven. He learns to dissociate and effectively represses the memories.

1979: Kincaid is rescued from Four P by the Minot police force. Most of those involved in the kidnapping are extradited and Kincaid has lost most of his memory, so his past life in California is unknown; all he can remember is his first name and birthday. Police officer Sgt. Mark Kincaid informally adopts him.

Late Seventies/early Eighties, exact date unknown: Damien and Lilu meet Luther; the three become friends and play by the railroad bridge over the Cheboygan River, near M-33. (Events outlined in flashback in The Return Of Luther.)

Late Seventies/early Eighties, exact date unknown: Investigations into Scorpio and its leader Bodine begin, although Bodine has been under investigation since the late Sixties/early Seventies. A "Scorpio task force" is established, which includes Trooper Broderick and Sgt. Edward Danser and is headed by Lt. Dick Mabarak. Det. James Mulroy and Officer Chris Felman join later on.

Early Eighties, exact date unknown: Mulroy goes to work for the Cheboygan County sheriff's department. Later on he transfers to the state police post and becomes involved in the Scorpio investigation.

Circa 1980-1983, exact date unknown: Lynn Leja runs away from home to become a member of a cult not related to Scorpio.

February 27 1980: Adrien ("Adia") and Lily, twins, are born to Lilith (unknown to high priest Alec Bodine and Lucifer V); they are smuggled out of the cult to be raised by an outsider.

1983: Bodine is taken into custody. He escapes all charges, however, and is set free on a technicality.

1983(?): Mark Kincaid, on learning in therapy of what truly happened to Alan, commits suicide. Alan Kincaid represses his memories again and all medical files pertaining to his case are locked from the public. He later earns the rank of police lieutenant.

Circa 1983-1984, exact date unknown: Leja leaves her cult and begins studying psychology. She eventually becomes a psychologist specializing in cult exit-counseling, informally known as "deprogramming."

Circa 1983-1985, exact date unknown: Trooper Broderick's wife engages in an affair with a friend, ostensibly because he himself works too much on the Scorpio case. The two divorce and she gains custody of the children. Not long after she and her daughter are murdered by persons unknown. Trooper Broderick succumbs to a brief bout of alcoholism but then sobers up and returns to work. Son Jordan is spared as he was not home at the time of the attack.

1984: Lt. Mabarak temporarily disappears while investigating Scorpio, and reappears, acting strangely. He no longer pursues the investigation with the same vigor as before, and seems intent on sabotaging it.

1984: Justina Danser is born.

1984(?): Teenager Andrew Knight is kidnapped off the street in Australia, programmed by a branch of Scorpio, and then transported to the US. He ends up joining the northern Michigan branch of the cult under the name "Shrine Knight," and is presented to Bodine.

Early 1986: Lilu refuses Luther's proposal of marriage. He soon after shoots Bodine, the leader of Scorpio. A coverup ensures Bodine is believed dead; Luther assumes his place according to Scorpio custom. (Events partly outlined in flashback in The Return Of Luther.)

May 30 1986: Lilu is raped and murdered by the railroad bridge while Damien is absent. At the same time, Adia dies. (Events partly outlined in flashback in The Return Of Luther.)

1986: Not much later in the year Damien is let off with one year's parole as accomplice to an armed robbery when he gives himself up and helps catch the other gunman, Jack Stanton. He begins work repairing automobiles. Meanwhile, a candid "demo" of a song he's caught singing is sent by friends to a record studio without his knowledge. (Events partly outlined in On The Run.)

1986(?): Elise Danbrook is expelled from Scorpio, the reason given that she is of no use for the cult's purposes.

Circa 1986/1987, exact date unknown: Shortly after Lilu's death the Scorpio task force is ordered shut down by Chief Curt Jones with pressure from Mabarak and others. All files, including Lilu's possible connection to the cult, are put under lock and key.

Late 1986/early 1987, exact date unknown: Damien records a full-length version of the "demo" song, "Someone Is Watching You," for Redlight Studios. The song is released to radio.

April 1987: "Someone Is Watching You" hits number one. The rest of the album, Radioactive, is later recorded and released to the public; afterwards the actual band Radioactive is formed.

1987: Anna Clare escapes the cult and goes into hiding.

1987/1988, exact date unknown: Damien meets Kat Witchita, another singer; the two begin a relationship. Before this time, Damien is known to have had two other girlfriends, previous relationships which must have lasted only a short time.

February 1988: Radioactive wins two Grammys.

Early 1988: After being contacted by his brother Beelzebub and sister Lilith, Damien meets the rest of his siblings. He moves into a house on M-33 in Benton Township, Cheboygan.

1988: Puck is assaulted and beaten out of the small "gang" he belongs to. Upon awakening in the hospital he refuses to name his attackers. Shortly after his recovery and release he attempts suicide and is placed in the hospital again on a suicide watch.

July 1989: Damien is reunited with his uncle, Father Damien, and first learns of the cult Scorpio. He also meets Derrick, a Scorpio member and second only to Luther; and he sees his father, but the encounter doesn't go well. A close friend of his, Elise, is taken hostage by the cult, and Sgt. Danser is killed; Danser's partner, Officer Felman, is hospitalized due to shock and later willingly institutionalized. (Events outlined in Lucifer.)

Late 1989: Radioactive's second album, Comatose, is released and immediately sells out in stores across the nation.

Early Nineties, exact date unknown: Kristeva joins the Minot sheriff's department. He meets Natalie when she rear-ends his car and the two are married shortly after. The marriage lasts only three months before disintegrating due to Kristeva's abusive outbursts, and he retreats completely into his work.

February 1990: Comatose wins two Grammys.

Early 1990 (possibly February): Leslie Laws is drugged and kidnapped by Scorpio without her knowledge. Luther gets her with child, a fact she is unaware of for a long time to come.

August/September 1990: Damien meets Luther again and learns that he is his sister's murderer. The diamond D is located in the copper tunnel and returned to its rightful owners; also, the power of the D's is revealed. Lt. Mabarak, after killing private detective Morris, is revealed to have been a member of Scorpio since his disappearance, but he himself is believed killed when the tunnels flood. Also, Damien first meets Anna Clare, as well as a couple of helpful Gypsies (who show up again later on). (Events outlined in D Is For Damien.)

October 1990: Damien meets Leslie Laws, whose unborn baby, fathered by Luther, is meant for a Scorpio sacrifice; Det. Mulroy; Sgt. Nate Johansen, who is filling in Danser's empty spot; Officer Jacob Haley; and DJ, younger sister of Luther. Leslie's baby is spared, but only because Luther's car runs off the Lincoln Bridge; Derrick is struck by Katrina's vehicle and hospitalized, badly injured. (Events outlined in Sidekicks.)

October 31 1990: Renato Jacob Laws is born. (Event outlined in Sidekicks.)

December 1990: Luther is revealed to still be alive, despite his accident on the Lincoln Bridge a couple of months previously; but yet another accident leads Damien and the others to believe he's been killed. The accident apparently involves a sighting of Lilu--Damien's murdered sister--as a ghost. (Events outlined in The Return Of Luther.)

April 1991: Damien unwittingly meets a Scorpio cultist and begins to believe he's losing his mind. Luther is again proven to still be alive. Damien also first meets the mysterious "Lady In Black," as well as Psyche Cooper, who has apparent psychic powers. The bizarre incident soon passes, but questions remain. (Events outlined in The Night Of The Goat.)

1992: Dr. Leja is raped by a member of the cult she belonged to while leaving her place of work. The attacker is never caught.

February 1992: Psyche briefly infiltrates Scorpio and is chosen as a "favorite" by Luther. This leads to jealousy--and potential trouble--from fellow cultist Alicia. Psyche manages to leave the cult safely. (Events outlined in Out Of Time.)

July 1992: Damien assists in finding the daughter of a storekeeper he once tried to rob (leading to his year's parole). The person behind the girl's disappearance turns out to be Jack Stanton--the man Damien was accomplice to in the robbery. Stanton ends up caught and imprisoned. (Events outlined in On The Run.)

1992: Radioactive's third album, Spin Cycle, is released.

September 1992: Lucifer is shot in an attempted coup within Scorpio, and hospitalized; despite Damien's and Father Damien's best efforts he returns to the cult. Also, Damien first meets Noble "Nobby" Botnick, and apparently heals a badly injured Derrick, who since being hit by Kat's vehicle has been unable to walk without aid. (Events outlined in Reunion.)

December 1992: Damien is contacted for help by Alison Chambers, a woman who once took him to court. (Events outlined in My Day To Be Dangerous.)

March 1993: Damien travels to Galveston Island, Texas to help out on what may be a Scorpio-related case. He first meets Det. Lucien Constanzo; "Coinspinner" Alvarez; Lt. Robert Starkey; Sgt. Lloyd Harkissian; Capt. Mack Nesmith; Santeria priest Alonzo Catera; Lucien's sister Roxy; a religious nut named Darrell Howett ("Squirrel Vomit"); Travis, a friend of Lucien's; Sandra Gutierrez, an undercover cop, Denver, a crooked DEA agent; and a pair of strange hitmen. It turns out that the cult, while not Scorpio itself, is working with Scorpio, and Coinspinner is involved. In the end, a new link to the cult is established, and Damien discovers for certain that the cult goes much further than just Michigan. (Events outlined in Flashback.)

October 1993: Psychologist Dr. Katheryn White tries to arrange a meeting with Luther, to "get inside his head." Diony Dizon, a teenaged dabbler in Satanism, is introduced. Several of Damien's "sorta friends" from his college are found out to be potential victims for the cult, but no hits ever go through. (Events outlined in Scorpio.)

December 1993/January 1994: Damien is kidnapped by Scorpio, which attempts to brainwash him to turn on his family. The attempt nearly works, until Damien turns the gun on Luther, who is taken into police custody. Later, after speaking with exit-counselor ("deprogrammer") Dr. Lynn Leja, Damien denies any memory of the event (though not that it happened), and refuses to speak about it, even to the psychologist. (Events outlined in Deprogrammer.)

March 1994: Det. Jaime Watts, who apparently has some mysterious vendetta against Scorpio, attempts to kill Luther as he's being transported to another facility, but Damien thwarts the attempt. Watts is jailed. (Events outlined in Luther.)

December 1994/January 1995: A new killer, supposedly unrelated to Scorpio, starts making the rounds, murdering people based on their zodiac sign; Luther has escaped prison, but the killer isn't him. Damien first meets Puck, a potential victim of the killer--but the killing stops before either he can be killed or the murderer can be caught. The case is still unresolved. At the same time, Scorpio cultist "Shrine Knight" first presents himself, but also escapes capture. (Events outlined in The Zodiac Killer.)

1995: Radioactive's fourth album, The Road Goes On Forever, is released.

October 1995: Damien, Psyche, and several others travel to Minot, North Dakota to investigate some cult crimes. He first meets Lt. Kincaid; Chief Don Bowen; Officer Chad Jenner; Mitchell Barnes; Mandy; and Juliana ("July"), who, before being murdered, gives him some hints as to the cult responsible for what's been going on. It's revealed not to be Scorpio at all, but possibly a more dangerous cult called the Four P Movement, which was responsible for kidnapping and torturing Kincaid when he was young. Officer Jenner is one of their operatives on the police force, and after trying to kill Psyche, he's arrested. Kincaid, later to be diagnosed with schizophrenia, is hospitalized and his files are reopened by command of Bowen. (Events outlined in Minot.)

October 1996: Another murder, related to Scorpio, is discovered; first hints of an offshoot called the Black Eagle begin to surface. Damien meets Chief Curt Jones; Officer Troy D'Amato; county coroner Dr. Elizabeth Ross; and Trooper Broderick, Luther's uncle. Officer Felman discharges himself from the Northampton institution and rejoins the investigation. Alec Bodine is found to still be alive, but ends up shot and killed by Trooper Broderick--whom Luther ordered the cult to crucify. Mabarak is proven to also be alive, and is assumed to be leader of the new splinter group; Haley and Broderick (who had started a relationship with Anna Clare) are hospitalized; and the old Scorpio files, which had been locked up, are reopened by orders of Chief Jones. (Events outlined in The Scorpio Murders.)

Circa 1996-1998, exact date unknown: Shrine Knight is taken from Scorpio and deprogrammed. The session is thought to be successful, and the ex-cultist returns to society.

June 1997: Damien returns to Minot to help on another case, and meets Det. Kristeva; Sheriff Wayne Rhoades; Trooper Matteo Lopata; Officer Roger Sinclair; Lt. Terry Gardner; Lt. Lesleyann Trevarrow; and Officer Christine DelBora. Sheriff Rhoades transfers Kristeva and DelBora from the sheriff's department to the Minot city police, hoping one of them will keep an eye on Kincaid's investigation--and the other one will keep an eye on them. Jenner, imprisoned, still gives out a few hints concerning Four P, though he's vague; Kristeva, who at first appears to be at odds with the investigation, later ends up being much more helpful than could be expected--although his mental stability is called into question. A skeleton is found beneath a washed out road, but its identity is never discovered. (Events outlined in Four P.)

June 1998: Damien's car is forced off the road by an unknown person; he slams into a tree and is hospitalized, in a coma, for four weeks. Meanwhile, Radioactive's fifth album, Still Lives, is released and rockets to number one on the charts. (Events outlined in The Ties That Bind.)

August/September 1998: Damien meets his younger sister Lily (a dead-ringer for Lilu), and his mother Lilith, whom Luther decided to simply release from Scorpio. This is one of the first acts that lead the others, including fellow cultists, to speculate about Luther's mental state. Det. Sandi Brannon, a former lover of Det. Mulroy, is introduced, as well as Lt. Robert Renwall. Watts reappears, taking Scorpio member Gregory hostage, and attempting to force Leja to "deprogram" him. Watts's stake in the whole matter is revealed: Derrick Grant's mother, Amelia Grant, was a relative of his. Watts escapes capture. Unrelated to Damien, Trooper Broderick meets his estranged son, Jordan, and the two attempt to mend their relationship. (Events outlined in The Ties That Bind.)

February 1999: Still Lives wins two Grammys. Later in the year, recording and production start on Radioactive's sixth album, Strontium 90.

Spring 1999: Damien travels to Tiffin, Ohio to investigate another possible Scorpio connection. The cult is found to be operating in the area. A local policeman, Det. Dale Tiffen, inadvertently kills their high priest and is asked to take his place; of course, he refuses. (Events outlined in The Devil's Advocate.)

Autumn 1999: Det. Kristeva is partnered with Det. Devetko to work on the new Ritual Crimes Unit. Devetko starts a very brief relationship with Russell Whittaker. Kristeva's repressed memories begin to surface more clearly now, though their source is uncertain. He meets with ex-wife Natalie, and the two resume their relationship to later marry a second time. (Events outlined in Blood Secrets.)

2000: Kristeva's mental state rapidly deteriorates. He eventually enters therapy to remember his abuse in childhood; the memories only drive him to investigate further. He introduces Devetko to Stan Brooks, and the two begin a relationship.

2000: Radioactive's sixth album, Strontium 90, is released.

2001(?): The Ritual Crimes Unit in Minot continues its investigations into suspect activity. Though moderately stabilized, Kristeva is still kept under observation. Det. Devetko, Lt. Kincaid, and Det. Erica Tulie end up shot and are hospitalized, Devetko the worst off of the three. He eventually recovers. Kristeva carries on the investigation with the other police. The skeleton found under the road in 1997 is discovered to have been that of a policeman investigating the Four P cult undercover; during one of Kristeva's own incidents of abuse the detective saved him from being killed. (Events outlined in Shadows.)

July 2001: The Black Eagle sect begins to cause trouble in northern Michigan. Damien first meets his uncle Asa (Father Damien's brother); Sheriff Mike O'Malley; Dep. Van Dusen and Cpl. Jourard; Palladia; Gypsy Nikola Lupescu; county prosecutor Katie Castagne; and meets Justina Danser for the first time since Sgt. Danser's funeral in 1989. (She is now in high school and interested in becoming a police officer like her father.) Shrine Knight also reappears, his bizarre behavior indicating that his earlier deprogramming was not completely successful; his "backup programs" (alternate personalities) begin to appear. Mabarak and a cousin of Damien's, Kain (who resembles him almost exactly), come to the forefront as enemies, while Luther retreats back within Scorpio, apparently losing interest in Damien. In the meantime dissension begins to rise within Scorpio itself when he takes a woman named Selena as his high priestess, a practice unheard of in the cult. (It turns out that she is pregnant, and expected to bear his child--the first woman in the cult to do so.) Elise reappears as well. Palladia and Sgt. Johansen, another returnee, reveal that they are members of a group that has been watching the "progress of the saints" down through the centuries following the martyrdom of Cosmas and Damian--they believe Damien to be the direct reincarnation of the saint, and all those around him are possible reincarnations of people he knew in past lives. The D's are revealed to have no actual power aside from the ability to concentrate that power which is already within their user--meaning that Damien himself has great healing abilities, which surfaced in the past when he healed a crippled Derrick. During these events, the new Scorpio task force is formed; founding members Trooper Broderick, Det. Mulroy, and Officer Felman are present, as well as newcomers Van Dusen, Jourard, Officer Alejandro Ramirez, Officer D'Amato, Det. Brannon, Dr. Leja (as a civilian member), and Lt. Renwall in charge in Mabarak's place. Leslie Laws ends up shot and killed; Trooper Broderick takes in the young Renato and offers to adopt him, as he's the only apparent relative left who could care for him. As with so many times before, no persons are brought into custody--though Lucifer V, still within the cult, witnesses Damien's abilities and finally begins to doubt the correctness of his loyalty to Scorpio. (Events outlined in Trinity.)
